Old Vine Carignan (50-70 year old vines)

Terroir / Soils

Languedoc. Situé dans un cirque entouré de pinèdes et de garrigue, sols principalement argilo-calcaire, atypiques pour la région, grâce à des sables éoliens qui donnent aux vins fruit, souplesse et élégance.

Languedoc. Clay limestone soils within a natural amphitheatre of slopes surrounded by pine trees and garrigue. The specific climat offers soil containing aeolian sand, atypical for the region, giving the wines more suppleness and soft fruit character.

Sustainable viticulture (‘culture raisonnée’). Organic fertilizers only; no systemic treatments – all interventions according to need, based on observation and analysis. Severe winter pruning to restrict yields (45-50 hl/ha); gobelet training with wire trellising for wind protection. Carefully harvested at full ripeness.

Maturation in vat; no fining, light filtration and bottling at the Château.

Serving note

Deep and darkly coloured, with old vine concentration and an appealing Mediterranean character. Sweet ripe black cherry fruit interplay with spice and garrigue both on the nose and on the palate. The tannins are gentle, and perfect balancing acidity makes this a wine that can be enjoyed on its own, or to complement a wide range of food dishes from grills to pizzas, and even spicy dishes. Serve 18°C.
